What if I don’t like to do scrap quilting?
Well… have you tried it? Scrap quilting can be a LOT of fun, artistically rewarding, and very budget friendly.
So, if you don’t like scrap quilting… want to tell me why?
Here are some common responses I get:
Scrap Quilting is too chaotic. I like pretty quilts.
Scrap quilting does not have to be an overwhelming flood of color, nor a tumultuous time-consuming kaleidoscope of tiny pieces. While tiny pieces will de-emphasis ugly fabric in a large scrap quilt…it’s probably not a good solution for you if you don’t already love scrappy quilts.
Here are a few tips for the non-scrap quilter who needs to divest the scraps from her stash:
-be more selective about the scraps you use in a given quilt, even if it means that you need to make a smaller quilt.
-Use large pieces (such as 2 ½” squares, or even ‘jelly roll’ strips) to finish your scrappy project in a hurry.
-Add up to 60% ‘new’ fabric (either from your stash or the store) to make your scrap quilt look the way you want your quilts to look.
