Busman’s Holiday

This morning, I enjoyed a busman’s holiday with my friend, Joanne from Waggin Tails Quilts. She came over so that we could visit, and talk “shop.”

I took her on a tour of my sewing room, and took her down to my dungeon- I mean basement- to check out my green machine gammill with the bicycle grips for handle bars.

Joanne also brought a bit of show and tell, and I thought I would share the pictures with you. (All of my pictures are close-ups because the full shot came out blurry, and I didn’t notice until just now.)

This quilt came from her 94 year old neighbor (it probably came from Mr. Neighbor’s side of the family rather than from Mrs. Neighbor’s side of the family.)

I really enjoyed this 3 dimensional, woven basket. This is not something that I have seen in a crazy quilt, before.

I love this flower- it almost looked fuzzy in person.

We were trying to figure out what the initials were…What do you think they mean?

Considering how dense the embroidery is, this must have been a very time consuming quilt to construct!

This is just the top left corner of the quilt, not even 1/4th of the overall design.

So, what do you think? Let me know if you have any thoughts on the age, construction, history of this quilt!
